Around Christmas time, we often get the privilege of spending extra time around family, friends, co-workers, etc. Often, some of them are not Christ followers and have some honest questions about your faith. A Christian is to (1 Peter 3:15) “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” The Greek term for defense (apologia) is from the English term apology (or apologetics). Apologetics is simply giving a reasonable answer to a reasonable question. A good way to be prepared is to read up on some of the more common objections/questions people have about Biblical Christianity. Below are my top 5 apologetics books. Pick a couple to read as well as get a few to give away to people who need some answers.
* The Case for Christ – Lee Strobel
* The Reason for God – Tim Keller
* Mere Christianity – C.S. Lewis
* The Big Book of Christian Apologetics: An A to Z guide – Norman Geisler
* More than a Carpenter – Josh and Sean McDowell
Have a Merry Christmas!
